He completed tours with Number 10 Squadron as Crew Captain, Pilot Training Officer and Flight Commander and deployed operationally to the Middle East, Northern Australia and the South China Sea. Following completion of Australian Command and Staff Course in 2011, GPCAPT Grime was promoted and selected for command of Number 11 Squadron; again flying the AP-3C Orion. GPCAPT Grime was posted to the Directorate of Defence Aviation and Air Force Safety in 2015 as Deputy Director Safety Investigations and following selection for promotion to Group Captain assumed the role of Director DDAAFS in December 2016.
